(BC/Calgary) McKnight attended training camp with the BC Lions. He was released on May 30 and signed with the Stampeders the following day. McKnight was activated from the practice roster in Week 9 and made his CFL debut in Ottawa. He played a total of four regular-season games as part of the Stamps’ defensive-line rotation and had seven tackles and one sack. During a Labour Day Classic victory over the Edmonton Elks, McKnight made three tackles and blocked a punt. He recorded his first career sack in the Labour Day rematch in Edmonton.

McKnight signed with the BC Lions on May 11, 2022, and he was released on May 30, 2022. He signed with the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2021, and was released on Aug. 25, 2021.

College

McKnight played his senior season (2020) at UNC Charlotte after transferring from Illinois State. In six games including five starts for the 49ers, he was all-Conference USA honourable mention after recording 24 tackles including a team-leading five tackles for loss and adding 1.5 sacks. In 26 games over two seasons (2018-19) at Illinois State, McKnight accumulated 111 tackles including 25.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, two forced fumbles and five passes defended. In 2019, he earned first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference honours for the Redbirds after recording 64 tackles including 16.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in 15 games. McKnight was at the University of Iowa in 2017 but did not see any game action. He redshirted for the Hawkeyes in 2016.

Personal

McKnight played defensive end and running back and also wrestled for the Tigers of Crystal Lake (Ill.) Central High School. He was the Illinois state wrestling champion in his weight class as a junior.
