Vernieri is in his second season with the Stampeders and his first as running backs coach.

In 2021, Vernieri served as an offensive assistant and helped oversee a Calgary attack that finished tied for second in the league for the fewest two-and-outs and tied for third in the CFL in yards per play. Seventeen players registered a catch and nine players had a rushing attempt.

Prior to coming to Calgary, the New Jersey native spent two years as wide receivers coach at Lycoming College, a Division III university in Williamsport, Pa.

Vernieri played for the University of Connecticut and made the American Athletic Conference all-academic team in both 2016 and 2017. He served as student-assistant with the Huskies in 2018.
