For the second time in the past four weeks, the Calgary Stampeders will duel with the BC Lions with first place in the West Division on the line. Game time for Friday’s contest at Vancouver’s BC Place is 8 p.m. MDT.

The Stamps (5-1-1) have a one-point lead over the Lions (5-2) and the teams have split their two regular-season meetings to date in 2016. Calgary dropped a 20-18 decision at BC Place in the season-opener on June 25 while the Stamps rallied from a late 15-point deficit to pick up a 44-41 overtime victory at McMahon Stadium on July 29.

With that OT win, the Stamps took over first place in the West and they’ve remained there with the exception of a few hours on Aug. 4 when the Lions temporarily took over top spot after a win in Montreal only to see Calgary reclaim the No. 1 position with a home-field win over Saskatchewan in a second game of a Thursday-night CFL doubleheader.

The Stamps are unbeaten in their past six games (5-0-1) including a 19-10 victory in Regina on Saturday. The Lions are coming off a 45-38 win at home against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

At 32.3 points per game, the Lions lead the CFL in scoring while the Stamps have allowed a league-low 21.7 points per contest. BC has scored a total of 83 points in its two most recent outings while Calgary has allowed just 25 points in the past two games.

The Stamps are 2-1-1 on the road this season while the Lions sport a 2-1 home record.

Friday’s contest features two of the CFL’s most fearsome pass-rushers as Calgary’s Charleston Hughes and BC’s Alex Bazzie share the league lead with six sacks apiece.

They’ll be chasing two of the league’s premier pivots in Bo Levi Mitchell of the Stampeders (2,194 passing yards and a league-leading 12 touchdown passes) and Jonathan Jennings of the Lions (2,048 yards and 11 TDs).
