Receivers coach

CFL: 4th season
Stamps: 3rd season

McDaniel is in his third season as the Stamps’ receivers coach. He was previously with Calgary as a player from 2011-17.

In 2021, the Stamps were one of just three teams with a pair of receivers to finish in the league’s top 10 in terms of yardage as Kamar Jorden and Markeith Ambles were both in that group. Jorden was named a West Division all-star. The Stamps got five 100-yard receiving games from four different pass-catchers – Jorden, Ambles, Josh Huff and Reggie Begelton and seven receivers scored a touchdown including the first career trips to the end zone for Shawn Bane, Luther Hakunavanhu and Richie Sindani.

The Virginia Beach, Va., native made his CFL coaching debut in 2019 as an offensive assistant with the Montreal Alouettes. McDaniel was the receivers coach at McMaster University in 2018 and was also a guest coach at the Stamps’ 2018 training camp.

McDaniel played a total of 10 seasons as a receiver in the CFL and had 562 career catches for 7,366 yards and 27 touchdowns. He broke in with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2009 and was the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie. McDaniel played a total of 37 regular-season games for the Ticats from 2009 to 2011 before signing with the Stamps. He made his Calgary debut in 2012 and played a total of 93 regular-season games and 11 post-season contests with the Red and White.

McDaniel had two 1,000-yard seasons for Calgary was named a CFL all-star in 2013. He was a member of the Stamps’ Grey Cup championship team in 2014. He retired following the 2017 season and joined McMaster’s coaching staff. McDaniel briefly returned to active duty as a player during the 2018 season, dressing for four games with the Ticats.

Prior to coming to Canada, McDaniel was signed as an undrafted free agent by the National Football League’s Denver Broncos in 2007 and spent the season on their practice roster.

Before turning pro, McDaniel played 46 games over four seasons with the Hampton University Pirates. He accumulated 151 receptions for 2,062 yards and a school-record 22 touchdowns along with 144 punt returns for a school-record 1,907 yards and two majors.
