Stamps add five to camp roster

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, import running back Jonathan Williams, import receiver Josue Paul, import defensive lineman Micah Johnson and non-import offensive lineman Stu Van Dusen have signed with the team. As per club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Perrilloux spent a good portion of the 2011 on the practice roster of the National Football League’s New York Giants. He was the Ohio Valley Conference offensive player of the year at Jacksonville State in 2009 after throwing for 2,350 yards and 23 touchdowns and rushing for 443 yards and six scores. In 2008, Perrilloux threw for 2,318 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 368 yards and seven majors. Prior to Jacksonville State, Perrilloux played two seasons at Louisiana State University. He was the MVP of the 2007 Southeast Conference title game after completing 20 of 30 passes and throwing for 243 yards and a touchdown in a win over Tennessee.

Williams attended training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals after playing four seasons at East Carolina University. As a senior in 2010, he led the Pirates with 883 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games. He also had 52 receptions for 431 yards and one touchdown as well as 13 kickoff returns for 359 yards and one score. For his career, Williams accumulated 1,451 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, 61 receptions for 461 yards and 38 kickoff returns for 696 yards.

Paul attended training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011. In 38 games over four seasons at Central Connecticut State, he caught 103 passes for 1,563 yards and 10 touchdowns and returned 95 kickoffs for 2,065 yards and four majors. He was named to the All-Northeast Conference first team in 2010 and to the second team in 2009.

Johnson has spent time with a number of NFL teams including the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers. Prior to turning pro, he played linebacker for four seasons at Kentucky. As a senior in 2009, he led the Wildcats with 105 total tackles including 6.5 tackles for loss. He added one sack. In 2008, he was a first-team Southeast Conference all-star as he recorded 93 tackles despite missing two games due to injury. He led the Wildcats and was third in the SEC with 13 tackles for loss.

Van Dusen is a Whitby, Ont., product who played four seasons at Trinity University, a Division III school in San Antonio, Tex. In 2009, Van Dusen’s senior season, Trinity’s offence averaged 162.4 rushing yards and 29.6 points per game. After completing his college eligibility, he signed with the semi-pro Austin Vipers and played on both sides of the ball.

The Stamps also announce that defensive lineman Elisha Joseph, who was signed on Mar. 11, has retired.
