The Calgary Stampeders have added national running back and kick returner Bo Palmer to the practice roster.

Palmer was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the fifth round (33rd overall) of the 2012 CFL draft. He attended training camp with Hamilton in 2013 and was placed on the retired list at the conclusion of training camp. He rejoined the Ticats in August of 2014 and was on the club’s practice roster until he was released Nov. 4.

The North Vancouver product played five seasons at Simon Fraser and finished his collegiate career as the Clan’s all-time leading rusher with 2,772 career yards. In 2011, he was a first-team Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-star and set a school record by rushing for 1,219 yards. He surpassed the 1,000-yard milestone again as a senior in 2012 and was named a second-team GNAC all-star. He scored 16 total touchdowns as a senior — 15 rushing and one receiving.
