This is Williams’ second stint with the Stampeders. He originally signed with the club on Sept. 6, 2017, and dressed for one game – an Oct. 28 contest in Edmonton. Williams had three carries for 14 yards and one reception for eight yards and also returned four kickoffs for 71 yards.

Williams signed with the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and attended training camp. He spent time on the Vikings’ practice roster in both 2014 and 2015 and attended training camp with the New York Jets in 2016.

Before turning pro, Williams played 43 games over four seasons at Wagner College, an FCS school in Staten Island, N.Y. He played eight games and rushed for 642 yards as a freshman in 2009, sat out 2010 because of injury and then turned in three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 2011-13. With 4,435 career rushing yards, he finished his collegiate career ranked third all-time in school history.

In another transaction, international defensive lineman Ja’Gared Davis has been placed on the suspended list.

Main training camp gets under way today at 9:05 a.m.
