Laying Down The Law

Heads-up CFL.

Cordarro Law is back.

After a relatively quiet start to the 2018 season by the defensive lineman’s standards, including one game on the injured list, Law had six tackles and a sack in the 27-3 win over the Ottawa RedBlacks last Thursday.

“I think I played pretty good,” said Law. “I haven’t played like that in a while.”

“It was my first good game in a long time. It felt good to get out there, run around, make some tackles and get a sack – I missed the sack. I was happy to have a good performance overall.”

Law missed the entire 2017 season due to a broken leg, missed a game due to injury in Week 3 this year, and had only managed two tackles on the campaign before the win in the nation’s capital.

“I was getting over injury, little tweaks of injury coming back, and I finally got over it and got out there and played good,” said Law. “It felt awesome.”

Head coach Dave Dickenson said he has been happy with Law’s play, even before the recent breakout game by the five-year veteran.

“Cordarro to me has really found his way,” said Dickenson. “Ultimately he’s one of our guys who does everything right. Maybe he’s not always as flashy on the stat sheet, but he’s doing everything right.

“He’s our leader out there, I’m glad he’s healthy, he’s made a big impact on our team.”

Law rounding into form only strengthens an already dominant defence, which has held the opposition to just 38 points in four games this year.

“Our defence came out, we established the game early,” Law explained of beating the RedBlacks. “Even though our quarterback went off (as a precaution after a low hit), we held them off, they didn’t score a point (after that).

“Our work showed, we played them two weeks ago and we had a week off to prepare some more for them and it definitely showed.

“It was great win by the defence.”

The Stamps now take on the Montreal Alouettes Saturday at McMahon Stadium.

And although the visitors have a 1-3 record this season, Law said they won’t be underestimating their opponents.

“They may be struggling right now, but they have a lot of good talent on their team, lots of big play receivers,” said Law. “They’re a great team.”
