Calgary Stampeders vs BC Lions

A Western showdown at McMahon Stadium will see the Stamps look to improve to 7-0 for the first time in 23 years when facing the BC Lions on Saturday in the first of three regular-season matchups in 2018. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.

The undefeated Stampeders are 3-0 at home this season and sit atop the West Division. BC, currently fifth in the West, has a 2-3 record including an 0-3 mark on the road.

Calgary was victorious by a score of 34-22 last week in Saskatchewan and will head into their second bye week of the season following Saturday’s game. Meanwhile, the Lions have been out of action since a 29-25 loss to the RedBlacks on July 20.

The Red and White’s most recent defeat to BC on home field was back on Aug. 1, 2014. Since then, the Stampeders have gone 6-0 at home against the Lions and 14-0 overall in the month of August.

BC is back in Southern Alberta on Oct. 13 and the Stamps will make their lone trip to Vancouver on Nov. 3 for the regular-season finale.

It will be a walk down memory lane with an Alumni Tailgate prior to Saturday’s game. Fans will get the chance to meet some of their favourite players from the past, get autographs and pose for photos.

The first 1,000 fans will receive a retro cheer towel and there will be a Happy Hour Special from 4 to 5 p.m. with $5 beer and $5 burgers.

The Gridiron Gardens is located on the practice field immediately south of McMahon Stadium, with activities commencing at 4 p.m. and running until kickoff at 7 p.m.

Halftime:

As part of Legacy Night, 19 Stampeders alumni will be celebrated at halftime. The list of players includes Akwasi Antwi, Basil Bark, John Bender, Bruce Covernton, Eric Fraser, Art Froese, J.T. Hay, Jackie Kellogg, Wes Lysack, Jay McNeil, Ken Moore, Don Moulton, Brett Ralph, Rocco Romano, Jim Silye, Demetrius “Pee Wee” Smith, Gordon Stewart and Kent Warnock as well as former assistant coach and executive Stan Schwartz.

CALGARY, AB – JULY 29, 2017: The Calgary Stampeders won 60-1 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium on Saturday night. Members of the Stampeders’ 1992 Grey Cup-championship team attended the Legacy Tailgate, presented by Coors Light, prior to the game and were recognized during halftime as part of Legacy Night.
