It’s a new year and we’ve got plenty of new faces on the roster.

With that in mind, let’s get to know the members of the 2019 Stampeders team.

Next up: Hergy Mayala

Height: 6’1”
Weight: 212 lbs
Birthdate: 10/21/1995
Born: Montreal, QC
School: Connecticut

When did you start playing football?

I started playing for one year, and it was a little aggressive for me so I stopped for a year and went back to basketball.  When I was 12 that’s when I committed and I haven’t looked back since.

What’s your favourite part about football?

Being held accountable to me is the best thing about football. Every day you have to come and show that you deserve to be on the field.

What is your favourite drill and why?

I’d say seven-on-seven, skelly, because you get to go shred against DBs and work on your craft.

Who has been you biggest football mentor?

I’d have to say my mom even though she doesn’t really understand the sport. She stays on me to study, put in extra work, and make sure that everything I do is my best.

What is the funniest thing you’ve ever seen on a football field?

I’ve seen somebody lose their pants, they got tackled and their pants fell off. It was pretty funny.

If you could have been there for one event in history, what would it be?

I would like to have seen Michael Jordan win his third NBA Championship in 1997.

If you could have lunch with any three people – dead or alive – who would you pick?

Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Jesus.

If you won $10 million, what would be your first purchase?

I’d buy my mom a house.
