A Friday night fight for first place in the West Division will see the Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders meet for the second time in 2019.

Calgary came up short in Montreal last week by a score of 21-17. Despite a season-high 464 passing yards from Bo Levi Mitchell, the Stamps suffered a loss to drop their record to 9-5.

The Riders improved to 10-4 in Week 17 after a 21-6 win over Winnipeg in Regina.

With a Stampeders victory on Friday, Dave Dickenson’s squad would sweep the season series and therefore hold the tiebreaker advantage with Saskatchewan to occupy the top seed in the West.

Back on July 6, Calgary went into Mosaic Stadium and earned a convincing 37-10 victory as Nick Arbuckle completed more than 86 per cent of his passes, highlighted by a 76-yard touchdown to Reggie Begelton. The Stamps’ defence registered five sacks and three interceptions including a pick-six from Tre Roberson.

Prior to coming up short in their lone home game against the Riders in 2018, the Stampeders had picked up at least one win over the Roughriders at McMahon in eight straight seasons.

With a league-low 4.5 yards allowed per run and as one of just two teams to surrender fewer than 90 rushing yards per game, Calgary will look to limit Saskatchewan’s stout ground game. Quarterback Cody Fajardo and running back William Powell have each tallied 10 majors as part of the rushing attack.

On the horizon for the Stamps is a home-and-home set with Winnipeg beginning next Saturday in Calgary. The Riders will continue their three-game road trip with stops in BC and Edmonton.

Fan Zone

Located in the East parking lot, the Fan Zone will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. The family-friendly space will feature a DJ, player autographs, food and beverages courtesy of Red Plate, partner activations and a photo booth with free printouts.

Salvation Army Coat Drive

The team’s annual Salvation Army Coat Drive will take place prior to Friday’s game. Fans are encouraged to help share the warmth this winter by bringing new or gently used coats to be donated to Calgarians in need of a winter jacket. Salvation Army volunteers will be stationed at all major stadium entrances – as well as inside the Fan Zone – to collect men’s, women’s and children’s coats beginning at 6 p.m. Cash donations will also be welcomed.

Red City Drum Line

The team’s drum line will be performing both before and during the game.

Halftime

Tim Horton’s Minor Football will take to the turf after the second quarter for a pair of fun-filled scrimmages.

Light Up The Night

Fans are urged to stay in their seats following the final whistle for a post-game fireworks show set to music.
