The Calgary Stampeders have signed American defensive lineman Cordarro Law, who was scheduled to become a free agent in February.

In his sixth season with the Stampeders, Law started 16 regular-season games at defensive end in 2019 and led the team with a career-high 10 sacks. The 31-year-old Whitfield, Ala., product also had 41 tackles including two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Law missed the final two games of the regular season as well as the Western Semi-Final due to injury.

“Cordarro was a very important player for us last season and his late-season injury was definitely a tough blow,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “I’m pleased that he is remaining in Calgary and look forward to seeing him back at full strength and at the top of his game next season.”

“I’m glad to be back,” said Law. “We definitely have some unfinished business to take care of.”

Law has played 47 career regular-season contests for the Stampeders and accumulated 114 tackles including 10 tackles for loss, 32 sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one knockdown. He has also played eight post-season contests for the Red and White and was part of Calgary’s Grey Cup-winning team in 2018.

The Southern Mississippi alum first joined the Stamps in 2012 and he remained in Calgary through the 2013 campaign before signing with the National Football League’s San Diego Chargers. Law played 17 games over two seasons with the Chargers before returning to the Stamps in 2016.
