7 Things – Bombers @ Stamps

1. Us: (3-6)

The Stamps couldn’t get the job done against BC last week as they fell 37-9 in Vancouver. Veteran middle linebacker Micah Awe led the way for the Stamps with six tackles, one interception and a pass knockdown.

2. Them: Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-2)

The Bombers battled their way back from an early deficit against the Elks last week winning 38-29. Dru Brown replaced injured Bombers QB Zach Collaros in the second quarter and will start for Winnipeg this week.

3. Us Vs Them

This is the second of three meetings between the Bombers and Stampeders. Winnipeg won 24-11 at home earlier this season with the final matchup coming in the final week of the regular season in Calgary.

4. Legacy Night:

Members of the Stampeders’ 1998 Grey Cup championship team will be honoured on Friday.

Numerous players as well as general manager and head coach Wally Buono will be on hand to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Stampeders team that won the West Division and beat Edmonton in the West final and Hamilton in the Grey Cup to win the fourth championship in franchise history.

Also honoured will be former Quick Six rider Karyn Drake and members of the 1998 Outriders dance and cheer team.

Reunion festivities include a reception at Stamps House, a ticketed event that runs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. After the reception, alumni and fans will make their way to the Gridiron Gardens tailgate party on the practice field south of the stadium.

In addition, the 1998 team will be honoured during a halftime ceremony and will take part in various in-game activities.

Thanks to our Director of Communications Jean Lefebvre for handing off these facts!

5. Who’s Where

6. Players to Watch

Stamps: RB Ka’Deem Carey: Ka’Deem Carey found his way back into the lineup last week after suffering an injury in week one. He rushed the ball seven times for 44-yards in the loss. He looks to improve on his first game back that saw him average over six-yards per carry.

Bombers: QB Dru Brown: Brown replaced an injured Zach Collaros last week in Edmonton and guided the Bombers to a comeback win. He had 307-yards passing and four touchdowns in the win.

7. Quotable:

“Flush it. It’s a great challenge, we’re looking forward to it. We know they’re a great team, well-coached, and they have a lot of great players. Let’s go out and play hard and try to get that win.” – Head coach and general manager Dave Dickenson on moving on from last week’s loss and preparing for Winnipeg Friday.
