The Stampeders have not made it easy on themselves this year as we head towards the final four games of the regular season.
They still sit two games back of the Saskatchewan Roughriders following a loss by both teams last weekend.
But a win this weekend in Hamilton, paired with a Riders loss to the Lions, would set up a huge battle at McMahon Stadium on Oct. 13 against the Green and White. The winner would more than likely take the third playoff spot in the west.
“It hasn’t been easy,” Stamps running back Dedrick Mills said Thursday. “We’ve just got to take it one game at a time, focus on our job, and do what we’ve got to do and come out with a win.”

The former Nebraska Cornhusker forms a formidable one-two punch at running back with teammate Ka’Deem Carey. The two have combined for 984 yards on the ground this year, even with both of them missing time due to injury.
Mills knows when the two of them are both able to get into the lineup it spells trouble for opposing defences.
“When you get a chance to get both of us in the game at the same time it gets electric and very physical,” he explained. “It brings out a lot of excitement between both of us and that’s why we run as hard as we do.”
The Stampeders next big test takes place Saturday at 5 p.m. MTN in Hamilton against the 6-8 Tiger-Cats as they look to inch closer to the Riders heading into the final bye of the season.
The Stampeders are going to need big plays from both of their star tailbacks in the final four games to give them the best shot at squeaking into a playoff spot.
Mills says there is still plenty of confidence that his team can get the job done.
“We’re very confident,” he stated. “We’ve just got to do our job and know our rules, know our responsibilities and we will see the results this weekend for sure.”
It’s been a struggle on offence lately for the Stampeders, with just 11 points their last time out against Montreal, but Mills says it’ mental.
“We’ve got to lock in and focus,” he said. “Everyone has to do their job individually and that will give us the best chance. Hamilton’s defence is very physical, they move around a lot, and they get after the ball for sure.”
