Stamps Roar in BC

One step closer.

The Stampeders put together their most complete performance of the season taking down the BC Lions 41-16 on Friday night in Vancouver.

Calgary is now 6-11 and with a Saskatchewan loss to Toronto tomorrow, would fill the third-and-final playoff spot in the CFL West.

QB Jake Maier – 10-for-21 for 123-yards and two touchdowns

RB Ka’Deem Carey – 15 rushes for 88-yards, three receptions for 26-yards

RB Peyton Logan – Eight rushes for 105-yards and one touchdown

REC Reggie Begelton – Four receptions for 66-yards and one touchdown

LB Cameron Judge – Six tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery

After the two sides traded punts to start the game, Ka’Deem Carey got things going for the Stamps rushing the ball three times to get into Lions territory. That drive got down to the BC 14-yardline before Rene Paredes came out and put a field-goal on the board to make it 3-0.

Kobe Williams picked off BC’s Vernon Adams Jr bringing the ball back to the Lions 20-yardline late in the first-quarter. That led to a Luther Hakunavanhu touchdown to make the score 10-0 on the last play of the quarter.

The Stamps thought they had gotten off the field midway through the second-quarter but a pass interference review negated that. The Lions got down to the two-yardline before Cam Judge forced and recovered a fumble getting the ball back for Calgary.

Jake Maier and the Stamps put together a 109-yard touchdown drive just before the half thanks to a 44-yard circus catch from Reggie Begelton. Tommy Stevens finished it off with a one-yard plunge to make the score 17-0.

The Lions got into field-goal range with no time left on the clock and put one through to make the score 17-3 heading into half-time.

The Stampeders first drive of the second-half ended in a major as well. Peyton Logan ran the ball 28-yards to the Lions two-yardline before Stevens pushed in his second score of the game making it 24-3 early in the third-quarter.

The Lions found the endzone on the ground with four-minutes to go in the third to make the score 24-10.

Calgary-born Nick Statz picked off Dane Evans deep in Lions territory and on the next play Maier found Begelton in the endzone for another Stampeders touchdown making the score 31-10 after three-quarters.

Evans was picked off again deep in his own end this time by Judge leading to a 17-yard Paredes field-goal to make the score 34-10.

The Lions got into the endzone again with under three-minutes to play to make the score 34-16 after the Lions failed in their two-point conversion try.

Peyton Logan went 39-yards to the house late in the game to put the nail in the coffin and give the Stampeders the 41-16 victory.

The Stampeders host the Blue Bombers in the regular season finale next Friday at 7:00 p.m.
