7 Things – Stamps @ Lions

1. Us: (3-5)

The Stamps took down the previously undefeated Toronto Argonauts 20-7 last weekend in Calgary. Running back Dedrick Mills led the way with 137-yards on the ground while receiver and return-man Tommylee Lewis had over 120 all purpose yards in the win.

2. Them: BC Lions (6-2)

The Lions got smacked by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 50-14 in week eight before getting a bye last week. It appears as though Vernon Adams Jr. will come back to start at quarterback for the Lions after Dane Evans stepped in for the last two weeks.

3. Us Vs Them

This is the second of three meetings between the Lions and Stampeders. The Leos won the season opener 25-15 in Calgary. They will play one more time to wrap up the season on Oct. 20 in Vancouver.

4. Fast Facts:

The Stampeders have won seven consecutive regular-season games at BC Place, outscoring the Lions 202-95 during that sequence.

Calgary is 2-2 on the road in 2023 and 1-3 against the West Division. The Lions are 3-0 at home and 5-1 against the West.

Thanks to our Director of Communications Jean Lefebvre for handing off these facts!

5. Who’s Where

6. Players to Watch

Stamps: DL Mike Rose: Mike Rose has been a menace on the defensive line lately racking up six sacks and a forced fumble this season. He will look to help continue the strong line play.

Lions: QB Vernon Adams Jr: VA was off to a hot start before an injury against the Roughriders a few weeks ago. He returns with a healthy receiving core with plenty of weapons at his disposal this week.

7. Quotable:

“It’s a good test for us as a younger group that’s kind of growing up by the week here. If we want to start talking about championships and playoff games and things of that nature, well these are the teams you’re going to see. It’s a good test for this group to see where we’re at.” – Quarterback Jake Maier on facing the BC Lions, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts in back-to-back-to-back weeks.
