Sarah: Home-opener anticipation

Mark Mennie

Hey Stamps Fans!

The home-opener is only a day away and my excitement is through the roof! I cannot wait to step out onto the field this Saturday and cheer the boys on towards a win against the Montreal Alouettes.

As a rookie, the pre-season game was my first time cheering with the Outriders. After practicing for several months, I was SO happy to get out on the sidelines and perform for the fans! The new “Stampstron” gave everyone an amazing view of the game and thankfully the weather also cooperated — a rarity with pre-season games.

Preparing for game day is such an exhilarating experience as we know that every practice brings us that much closer to actually performing on the field. Our bi-weekly practices are filled with sidelines, cheers and kick lines, of course!  We always spend time ensuring that every dance routine is clean and uniform so that we can look our absolute best. Just before game day, we also spend one of our practices actually on the field working on our spacing and game day schedule; this is when I start getting butterflies in anticipation of the upcoming game.

Before kickoff, MaddprettyMakeover Studio is set up in our dressing room to ensure that we all have the “Outrider look” — this includes getting the country curls and Go Stamps! red lips. It is so amazing to get all dolled up before hitting the turf!

Make sure you check out the Dodge Fan Zone for all the pre-game fun! Set up across from the Ticket Office on the east side of McMahon Stadium, the Dodge Fan Zone offers face-painting, a balloon artist, DJ, photo booths, player autographs, the Tailgate Grill food truck and so much more!  It is the perfect way to kick off your day at McMahon.

Lastly, I know that I will be listening to The Rural Alberta Advantage who will be performing at halftime. This indie music trio will not disappoint!

See you all Saturday at 1:00 p.m.!

Go Stamps Go!
