Tate: Just enjoying the present

David Moll

Reaching my 100th CFL game was pretty sweet. The offence finally threw up the points we’ve been looking for all season. We were able to get into a rhythm and we played really well. I even got to come in a little bit. It was fun.

I think Saturday night was a bit of a coming-out for us as a team. The offence was able to move the ball really well. It was a tough game for Ottawa. It was basically a 10 p.m. start for them — it had to be tough on those guys.

For us, it definitely gives us confidence and momentum moving forward. We got to have that first bye week and were able to find ways to win in our first six games and that will help us in our next stretch here. It was a good start and now let’s build on it and keep going. It’s going to be a totally different game for us next Saturday when we head to Regina regardless of their record.

As I look back on my career to this point, I wouldn’t say it’s the games as much as it is being in the locker room with my teammates that has meant the most to me. They are the reason why I am still around to play 100 games, in all honesty.

They are one of the reasons I want to be around here in Calgary. I didn’t want to go anywhere else. I love these guys. I love playing with them, I love living with them and it’s great working with all the guys, training and office staff included. I enjoy coming to work. I think that’s more where the special part comes in and not so much the games. The games are a cherry on top. I feel like I haven’t played that many but I just really enjoy being around all the guys.

I couldn’t tell you what to expect for the next game, let alone another 100. I’m enjoying the moment being in the now.
