Calgary Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the team’s football operations and scouting staff for 2016.

Cole Hufnagel joins the organization as director of U.S. scouting. He joins the Stampeders after spending nine seasons with the National Football League’s New York Jets. He was a video intern when he first joined the Jets in 2006 before earning a full-time position in 2007 as a pro personnel assistant. In 2011, he became a pro scout and was promoted to college area scout after the 2012 NFL Draft, evaluating college prospects in the Western United States.

Brendan Mahoney, who is entering his 10th season with the Stampeders, has been named director of Canadian scouting while Kyle Carson has been appointed a scout and football operations coordinator.

Mahoney joined the club during the 2005 season as a member of the practice roster and his scouting career began in 2007 as an intern in the personnel department. Most recently, he had been serving as Canadian scout and assistant director of football operations. Carson joined the team in 2012 and in 2015 was the Stampeders’ football operations and scouting assistant.

In addition, Michael Petrie returns in his role as assistant general manager and director of football operations.

“Cole brings a wealth of scouting experience and over the years has developed many contacts south of the border while Brendan and Kyle have both shown that they are deserving of additional responsibilities in football operations,” said John Hufnagel. “In addition, with head coaching duties having been turned over to Dave Dickenson, I will be able to focus more of my time and efforts on the personnel duties of the general manager’s role.”
