The Calgary Stampeders play host the BC Lions on Friday night as both teams get their 2018 pre-season schedule under way. Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is at 7 p.m. the game will be broadcast on 770 CHQR radio but will not be televised.

This is the sixth year in a row Calgary and BC have met in pre-season action. The Stamps have a 3-2 record in the previous five encounters with the Leos including a 23-18 victory at McMahon a year ago. The Stamps finished in first place in the West Division in 2017 with a 13-4-1 record while the Lions were fifth at 7-11.

Friday’s contest marks the beginning of Wally Buono’s final season on the CFL sidelines. The BC head coach, who is the winningest coach in both CFL and Stampeders history, has announced he will retire at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Halftime entertainment features a game between under-11 rugby teams.

Calgary’s second and final pre-season game will take place on Friday, June 8 with a trip to Regina to take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Starting at 5 p.m., the Fan Zone will be in operation in the east parking lot across from the Ticket Office.

Attractions and activities include a live DJ, Stamps players DaVaris Daniels and Brandon Smith will be signing autographs from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., and interactive sponsor activations and activities for kids of all ages.
