The Calgary Stampeders start the second half of the 2022 regular season on Thursday with a visit to Winnipeg and a date with the West Division-leading Blue Bombers.

The Stamps are 6-3 at the midway point of the schedule, marking the 15th time in 16 seasons since 2005 the Stamps are .500 or better halfway through the regular season. The only exception is the 2021 campaign when the Stamps were 2-5 halfway through an abbreviated 14-game schedule.

Winnipeg is the second stop of the Stamps’ two-game road trip to face first-place clubs as Calgary trimmed the Toronto Argonauts, the top team in the East, by a score off 22-19 on Saturday. The Red and White scored the final 12 points of the game including Elie Bouka’s 62-yard interception-return touchdown to erase a nine-point deficit.

While the Stamps play their second road game in six days, Winnipeg (9-1) is coming off a bye. The Blue Bombers last saw action in Week 10 as they dropped a 20-17 overtime decision at home to the Montreal Alouettes.

This is the third and final regular-season meeting between the Stamps and Bombers in 2022 as Winnipeg won the two previous games by a touchdown – 26-19 at IG Field in Week 6 and 35-28 at McMahon Stadium in Week 8.

The Stampeders are 4-1 on the road so far this season and 2-3 against West Division opponents. The Blue Bombers are 3-1 at home and 6-0 against division rivals.

Following Thursday’s game, the Stamps return to Calgary and will face the Edmonton Elks in the Labour Day Classic on Monday, Sept. 5 at McMahon Stadium.
