TV: TSN, ESPN+

It’s Friday Night Football and fireworks at McMahon Stadium as the Calgary Stampeders play host to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the annual Light Up the Night game.

Please note the updated kickoff time for the contest – 7:45 p.m.

After the game between the Stampeders (10-5) and Ticats (5-10) fans are invited to remain in their seats to enjoy a fireworks display.

As for the action on the field, the Stampeders look to pick up where they left off prior to their Week 18 bye. Calgary has won four of its five most recent games and enters Week 19 tied with the BC Lions for second place in the West Division. The Stamps and Lions are battling for home-field advantage in the West Division Semi-Final on Nov. 6.

Meanwhile, the Ticats sit in third place in the East Division. Hamilton has won two of its three most recent games including a critical 18-14 home-field victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders last week. The Ticats need to at least match Saskatchewan’s final record to prevent the Riders (currently 6-10) from crossing over and snagging the third playoff berth in the East. They also have a chance to pass the Montreal Alouettes for second place.

This is the second meeting of the season between Calgary and Hamilton as the Stampeders rallied from a 24-3 halftime deficit in Week 2 to pick up a 33-30 overtime win at Tim Hortons Field. René Paredes gave Calgary the lead in extra time and linebacker Jameer Thurman sealed the victory with an interception.

Prior to their Week 18 bye, the Stamps defeated Toronto 29-2 to improve their home record to 4-3 and remain perfect – now 5-0 – against East Division opponents. Hamilton is 0-7 on the road and 2-5 against the West.

The Stamps have won 15 straight home games against Hamilton with the Ticats’ most recent victory at McMahon Stadium coming more than 18 years ago on July 4, 2004.
