Begelton Enjoying The Process

Pressure creates a lot of things – including diamonds.

Reggie Begelton is working with a young core at the receiver position this year and says that they really stepped up when their backs were against the wall last week against the Roughriders.

“I feel like we stepped up to the pressure that was given to us,” he said. “One thing about us is we seem to thrive on pressure. The more we develop the more we get experience for these young guys to understand you don’t have to be in that position to act right. It would be a lot easier and a lot more comfortable if you just performed from the beginning.

“But that’s what makes the games fun,” he continued. “If everything was easy the game of football wouldn’t be as fun so I’m enjoying this process no matter how the season goes, I’m loving these guys and loving the process because we have a really, really good group.”

» Family Day Game vs. Ottawa Redblacks – 23.07.23

The Stampeders had what most would consider their best offensive performance of the season against Saskatchewan last week and the Texas native says it was just a matter of execution.

“We made enough plays,” Begelton said. “We were able to adapt and make enough plays and that’s what the game of football is. The previous games that we lost we just didn’t make enough plays.”

The Stamps take on a Redblacks team this Sunday that surprised many across the CFL last week, defeating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in overtime.

“We’ve got to be confident in ourselves as individuals, trust the process and have fun,” the Lamar University alum explained. “They’re a good team. When we played them we saw they were a good team. We just made more plays than them that game and we have to do that again.”

Calgary hosts the Redblacks Sunday, July 23 at 5 P.M. For the Family Day Game. There will be plenty of fun activities for the whole family starting at 3 P.M. in the Gridiron Gardens. You can buy your tickets to the Family Day game here!
