Stamps Outlasted In Montreal

It was another close game for the Stamps but they couldn’t quite come away with the win in Montreal on Sunday night falling 25-18.

Calgary is now 2-5 on the season while Montreal moves to 3-3.

Playing in his 200th game, veteran kicker Rene Paredes did all the scoring going six-for-six on field goals.

The Stamps got a big play on their first possession as Tommy Stevens went around the outside on third-and-one and picked up 31-yards leading to a 50-yard field-goal from Rene Paredes who was playing in his 200 career CFL game. The score was 3-0 early.

The Alouettes would move the ball nicely on their first touch and add a field-goal of their own to make the score 3-3.

Montreal would put one through the uprights on their next drive as well to make the score 6-3 after one quarter of play.

Montreal attempted a field-goal one-minute into the second-quarter but it was pushed wide for a single to make the score 7-3.

Maier was picked off by Montreal on the Stamps first touch in the second-quarter the interception was taken all the way back for a touchdown. The extra-point was missed to make the score 13-3.

Calgary would get back on the board with another field-goal after stringing together a few first downs. the score was 13-6.

The Alouettes added another three points just minutes before the half to make the score 16-6

The Stamps were able to get into field-goal range with 16-seconds left in the half as Paredes hit from 53-yards to make the score 16-9 at the break.

The game experienced a weather delay while the teams were in the locker-room at half time. Play resumed about 45-minutes after the original delay.

Both teams traded field-goals to start the half to make the score 19-12 halfway through the third.

Reggie Begelton made an acrobatic catch late in the third-quarter that led to their fourth straight drive with a field-goal. The score was 19-15 after three.

Montreal added yet another field-goal to make the score 22-15 early in the final frame.

Paredes hit his sixth field-goal of the night to get the Stamps within four, 22-18.

The Alouettes punched through their sixth field-goal of the game to make the score 25-18 with 2:33 to go in the game.

Calgary got to the Montreal 30 before Maier threw an interception with just under two-minutes to go.

The Stamps would get the ball back with 38-seconds left. Tommylee Lewis returned a punt to the Montreal 32-yardline to give Calgary good field position. They were unable to find the endzone on third-down however, and fell short 25-18.
