Stay Hungry

The Stampeders linebackers will be looking to take a big bite out of the Argonauts offence this Friday in Hogtown.

“We’re hungry,” said Titus Wall. “We won’t be satisfied at that position with what we get – we will always want more.”

Wall, Micah Awe and Cam Judge all sit in the top-11 in tackles in the league as we head into week 12. Awe leads the CFL in tackles with 70 while Judge and Wall have 49 and 46 respectively.

The Stamps head east this week with a tilt in Toronto Friday, looking to hand the Argonauts their second loss of the season, the first coming at the hands of Calgary 20-7 a few weeks ago. You can catch the tilt at 5:30 p.m. on TSN.

The Stampeders have lost three games by a touchdown or less this year and Wall says the defence needs to cause more turnovers to flip some games in their favour.

“From a defensive standpoint, we need the ball more,” said Wall, who had seven tackles and a sack in a 19-18 loss to the Blue Bombers last week. “We’ve been lacking in turnovers and takeaways so if we’re able to get more of those that will help contribute to a lot more wins.”

As mentioned, the Stampeders held the Argonauts to just seven points the last time these two teams met and Wall says playing proper Stampeder football is the key to doing it again.

“We’ve just got to be assignment sound,” he explained. “Execute is all we have to do and play our brand of ball.”

Wall, who’s in his second year in the CFL, had a strong start to his rookie year before getting injured and says he’s felt stronger and stronger each game this campaign.

“That’s been the motivation every week,” he explained. “Find something to get better at no matter if I have a good performance or a bad performance, every week just come out and find something that I can improve on to help the team win.”
