7 Things – Als @ Stamps

1. Us: (4-9)

The Stamps are coming off a bye week looking to catch fire in the back quarter of the season. Last timeout, they allowed 18 fourth-quarter points in a 25-23 loss to the Elks. Calgary sits in fourth in the West, two games back of the Riders who they will see in less than a month’s time.

2. Them: Montreal Alouettes (6-7)

The Alouettes had a fourth-quarter lead over Toronto last week before falling 23-20. They are tied with Hamilton for second in the East.

3. Us Vs Them:

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the Stampeders and Alouettes. Montreal won 25-18 at home in Week 8 back on July 30 in a game that was delayed by a storm at halftime.

4. Fast Facts:

Saturday’s game is the 1,272nd regular-season game in Stampeders history. The Stamps have 697 wins, 553 losses and 21 ties since 1945. Calgary has played 635 games at home, with a record of 404-221-10, and 636 games on the road (293-332-11)

This is the 84th all-time meeting between Calgary and Montreal. The Stampeders lead the series 43-39-1 including a 28-13-1 record at home

The items are on sale for $20 each with proceeds going to Wellspring Alberta, a not-for-profit organization consisting of a network of community-based centres offering cancer-support programs and services.

5. Who’s Where

6. Players to Watch

Stamps FB Charlie Power: It’s the seventh time in Power’s career he has reached double digits in special-teams tackles in a season, and the Okotoks product continues to move up the franchise’s all-time leaders in that category. Power is tied with Marc Calixte for sixth place in Stampeders history and is two back of Karl McCartney for fifth spot.

Alouettes DL Shawn Lemon: Former Stamps defensive Lineman Shawn Lemon is just three sacks away from 100 in his CFL career heading into Saturday. He has five sacks in eight games with the Alouettes this season.

7. Quotable:

“They’re an aggressive team. They took it to us that night in Montreal, I remember that very clearly, so I’m looking forward to the rematch here.” – Quarterback Jake Maier on Saturday afternoon’s tilt with the Als.
