7 Things – Bombers @ Stamps

1. Us: (6-11)

The Stamps locked up a playoff spot with a 41-16 trouncing of the BC Lions combined with a Riders loss to the Argonauts. It’s their 18th straight trip to the CFL playoffs. The Stamps will take on the Lions again in the West Semi-Final.

2. Them: Winnipeg Blue Bombers (13-5)

The Bombers locked up first in the CFL West Division with the Lions loss on Friday night and still managed to dominate the Elks 45-25. The Bombers will take on the winner of the Stampeders and the Lions in the West Final.

3. Us Vs Them:

This is the third-and-final matchup in the final week of the regular season. The Bombers are 2-0 against the Stamps this year with 24-11 and 19-18 wins.

4. Fast Facts

Friday’s contest gives the Stampeders organization an opportunity to thank their fans for another season of support.

Everyone that is scanned into the building Friday tonight will be entered in a draw to win a trip for 2 on the Calgary Stampeders Fan Trip to BC for the West Semi-Final on Nov 4!

In the popular Jerseys Off Our Backs event, 45 randomly selected fans will be taking home a jersey worn by a Stamps player this season. The lucky winners will get the opportunity to have the Stamps player sign their game-worn jersey.

Last week’s victory was the 699th in Stamps history during the regular season. With one more win, the Stamps would become the first team in Canadian football to amass 700 victories, using the creation of the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union (the forerunner to the CFL’s current East Division) in 1907 and the Western Interprovincial Football Union (precursor of the modern-day West Division) in 1936 as CFL-recognized starting points.

Thanks to our Director of Communications Jean Lefebvre for handing off these facts!

6. Players to Watch

Stamps: DB Kobe Williams: Kobe is heading into the final week of the regular season on a heater. He had two tackles, an interception, and a pass breakup last week against the Lions. He has 43 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and eight pass breakups this season.

Bombers: QB Dru Brown: Brown should get a large chunk, if not all, of the playing time this week. He started in Week 11 against the Stamps in Calgary and guided the Bombers to the 19-18 win.

7. Quotable:

“Let’s play well tomorrow regardless of who is out there for either side.” Quarterback Jake Maier shares his thoughts on the mindset heading into tomorrow night’s tilt with the Blue and Gold.
