Four Stamps Voted As Division All-stars

Linebacker Micah Awe, receiver Reggie Begelton, centre Sean McEwen and defensive tackle Mike Rose are members of the Canadian Football League West Division’s all-star team for the 2023 season.

The all-stars were determined by voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC), one vote from each West Division team’s coaching staff as well as online fan voting.

Here is a closer look at Calgary’s division all-stars:

Micah Awe (linebacker): In his first season with the Red and White, Awe set a franchise single-season record by recording 134 defensive tackles, the third-highest total in CFL history. Awe also led the CFL with 153 defensive plays including the aforementioned 134 defensive tackles, four tackles for loss, six special-teams stops, two sacks, three interceptions, one forced fumble and three knockdowns. He earns division all-star recognition for the first time in his six-year career.

Reggie Begelton (receiver): Begelton was the team’s leader in receptions (86), receiving yards (1,119) and receiving touchdowns (five). Despite missing three games in 2023, the veteran slotback ranked second in the CFL in catches and sixth in receiving yards. This is the second time Begelton has been recognized as a division all-star.

Sean McEwen (offensive lineman): McEwen is a division all-star for the third time in three seasons as a member of the Red and White. He was previously an East all-star in 2017 when he played for the Toronto Argonauts. In 2023, the Calgary native made 17 starts and was part of a Stampeders offensive line that allowed just 34 sacks, the third-lowest total in the league.

Mike Rose (defensive lineman): Rose led all CFL defensive tackles and set a career high by registering 11 sacks this season. His stat totals also included 24 tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. It’s the third consecutive year Rose has been a West all-star.
