Stamps bounced in Chestermere showdown

The TELUS Stampeders Basketball Program took to the hardcourt for the second time in 2016 on Friday as the team travelled east to Chestermere Lake Middle School.

The boys and girls representing the Chestermere Lakers pulled off a 57-56 win, handing Ben D’Aguilar, Deron Mayo, Bo Levi Mitchell, Rene Paredes, Quinn Smith, Adam Thibault, Spencer Wilson and defensive backs coach Kahlil Carter their first loss of the young season.

A pair of three-pointers from Wilson at the top of the key sparked the offence for the Stamps. Meanwhile, the defensive action featured a ferocious blocked shot under the basket by Mayo.

With the entire student body on hand to support their school, Ralph the Dog and two members of the Calgary Stampeders Outriders were also in attendance to cheer on the Red and White. The atmosphere was complete with a live DJ throughout the game before the Stamps posed for photos to conclude the event.

The male player of the game received a Stamps team-signed jersey and a Fitbit was awarded to the outstanding female player. In addition, Selfie Sticks were distributed to four spirited students courtesy of TELUS.

Crescent Heights High School will be the site of the next game in the TELUS Stampeders Basketball Program. The action gets going on Tuesday, March 15 at noon with the Stamps looking to get back in the win column.
