When did you start playing football?

I started playing around seven years old, it was flag football. It was organized at the YMCA we have back home. I fell in love with it, things happened and I was making more plays than what was expected at that age and I figured I might have something there.

What is your favourite thing about the game of football?

The atmosphere. I’m a Texas guy, football is big there. I played in front of 30,000 or 40,000 people in high school alone, so just having that atmosphere and that energy and knowing that many people are watching you to be great. Being on that stage, I just loved it I felt like it was something I was made to do.

What is your favourite drill and why?

Anything that works the craft: breaking down and getting the football. We’re DB’s, we’re receivers that can’t catch, supposedly. But I think differently, I love to get the ball. Anything where I can break, work on my craft and finish and get interceptions – I can do that all day.

Who has been you biggest football mentor?

My mom and my dad. My mom always sends me a little inspiration before games, ‘visualize it, see it, believe it, and go get it’. Dad has always been in that back pocket, more silent, but always been there. If I had a bad game in high school or something like that he’d be like ‘let’s go get breakfast, let’s go do this, let’s go talk’. He did plenty of small things that reminded me it wasn’t the end of the world and that things happen, shake it off, you’re meant to do this and continue to move forward.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen on a football field?

I’ve seen a guy come up, make a play and throw up on a guy. It was gross, but it was funny. He had thrown up all over the guy’s chest.

If you could have lunch with any three people – dead or alive – who would you pick?

Martin Luther King, Morgan Freeman, and Denzel Washington.

If you won $10 million, what would be your first purchase?

I would probably buy a house.
