7 Things – Lions @ Stamps

1. Us

The Stamps face the BC Lions Saturday in their first preseason tilt. The two teams met in the West Semi-Final last season, with BC eliminating Calgary. There are some large position battles raging with a revamped defensive and offensive line, and defensive backfield. Now those players will get to prove themselves against someone other than their own teammates.

2. Them

The Lions fell 24-13 in Winnipeg in the West Final last year and are poised to be a contender once again. Vernon Adams Jr. returns as the Lions field general. He threw for a league-leading 4,769 yards last season.

3. Dave’s Thoughts

Head coach and general manager Dave Dickenson explained the message he would pass on to his guys before the game.

“We want to be technically sound and play winning football,” he said. “That means limit the penalties and play with poise and then when the lights are on who is going to shine, who is going to take their game to the next level. Don’t do too much, you’re here for a reason, go compete and feel confident you know what you are doing and then let your skill take over.”

4. Fast Facts

Come early on Saturday to enjoy the activities in the East Fan Zone, which get under way at 12:30 p.m. There will be a live DJ, face painting, games and more.

Fans can also stop by the Stamps Store and take advantage of a 35% discount on all regularly priced items.

There’s more football action as the members of the Wildcats girls’ football program take the field at halftime.

Familiar in-game promotions are back including Name That Tune, Pass the Pizza, and the Coffee Cup Shuffle as well as mini-footballs being tossed into the stands after every touchdown.

Thanks to our Director of Communications Jean Lefebvre for handing off these facts!
